The Future of Tech and Workshop Start

Employees of the UWV, spread across the country, came to Amsterdam for the event The Future of Tech. An event that showcased many new technologies: green screens, VR headsets, there was so much to see and do.

In room two, dozens of laptops were ready for the workshop by MvR titled "Build Your Own Robot". Curious people shuffled into the room and sat down at the laptops. It was so busy that multiple people had to share one laptop.

Introduction by Marcel Dekker

Marcel Dekker opened the workshop and talked about Robotic Process Automation (RPA) within the UWV. Two digital assistants (also known as robots) were already taking over several repetitive tasks within the UWV.

Step by Step Building a Robot

Johans Brink (MvR DW) guided the participants step by step in building their own robot. The UiPath program was launched. The participants, initially a bit awkward with this new interface, quickly realized that when they followed the steps, the little robot actually worked!

Results of the Workshop

After about forty minutes, everyone had built a little robot that starts Google, searches for news about the UWV, and emails a screenshot of this news to their own email address.

Exclamations of surprise flew around the room: the robot does what you want, and the result is instantly visible - namely an email with the news in your mailbox!

Questions and Interest in RPA

The questions about how RPA could be applied within their own work and whether they could practice with UiPath were thrown at Marcel and Johans. A very successful workshop. The Future of Tech with RPA had become a bit closer for everyone.
